Chris Lapointe, our Principal, was admitted as a solicitor in 1991 and has practiced exclusively in family law since 2012.

Having gone through separation and divorce himself, Chris understands the process intimately from both a lawyer’s and a client’s perspective. He approaches Family Law with genuine empathy, supported by an extensive commercial and business background gained over 25 years of owning and operating finance and customer‑focused businesses.

Drawing on both his professional expertise and personal experience, Chris develops innovative and practical settlement-focused family law solutions for his clients. As a settlement‑focused practitioner, he is prepared to advocate firmly and effectively to secure the best possible outcome.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from Macquarie University, along with Graduate Diplomas in both Applied Family Law and Applied Finance. He is also a qualified collaborative lawyer.

Family‑focused by nature, Chris is a father to two daughters, stepfather to two stepsons and has lived on Sydney’s North Shore his entire life.

Tamsin Lapointe, our Practice Manager, has been an integral part of Lapointe Family Law since 2021.

Having personally experienced separation and divorce in 2017, Tamsin understands the family law process from a client’s perspective. With a background in project and operations management, she brings strong organisational and administrative expertise to her role, supporting matters with structure, planning and a sharp eye for detail.

As Practice Manager, Tamsin oversees the firm’s operational and administrative functions, ensuring our Principal is well supported and that matters progress in a timely manner and in line with professional standards. She manages workflows, enhances systems and processes, and maintains a consistently high level of client care. Known for her calm and empathetic approach, Tamsin helps clients feel supported while keeping the practice running smoothly behind the scenes.

Tamsin is married to Chris, mother of two sons and stepmother to two stepdaughters. Originally from South Africa, she calls Sydney’s North Shore home.
