CHRISTOPHER LAPOINTE

Chris Lapointe established Lapointe Family Law in 2019 and serves as the firm's Principal Lawyer. Admitted as a solicitor in 1991, he has practised exclusively in family law since 2012.

Having gone through separation and divorce himself, Chris understands the process intimately from both a lawyer’s and a client’s perspective. He approaches Family Law with genuine empathy, supported by an extensive commercial and business background gained over 25 years of owning and operating finance and customer‑focused businesses.

Drawing on both his professional expertise and personal experience, Chris develops innovative and practical settlement-focused family law solutions for his clients. As a settlement‑focused practitioner, he is prepared to advocate firmly and effectively to secure the best possible outcome.

Chris holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from Macquarie University, along with Graduate Diplomas in both Applied Family Law and Applied Finance. He is also a qualified collaborative lawyer.

Family‑focused by nature, Chris is a father to two daughters, stepfather to two stepsons and has lived on Sydney’s North Shore his entire life.

Tamsin Lapointe, our Practice Manager, has been an integral part of Lapointe Family Law since 2021.

Having personally experienced separation and divorce in 2017, Tamsin understands the family law process from a client's perspective. With a background in project and operations management, she brings strong organisational and administrative expertise to her role.  As Practice Manager, Tamsin oversees the firm's operations, systems and client care, helping ensure matters progress efficiently and in line with professional standards.

Tamsin also leads the administration of the firm's Wills & Estates services, including Probate and Estate Administration matters, where she serves as the primary client contact. This is an area she is particularly passionate about following her own experience managing the affairs of loved ones and seeing firsthand the importance of thoughtful planning and practical support during difficult times. Known for her calm, empathetic and practical approach, Tamsin works closely with Principal Lawyer Christopher Lapointe to support clients through estate planning, Probate and Estate Administration matters.

Tamsin is married to Chris, mother of two sons and stepmother to two stepdaughters. Originally from South Africa, she now calls Sydney's North Shore home.
